Heavy rain: Sea recedes, Fort Kochi beach evacuated

District collector K Mohammed Y Safirulla said all Taluk offices will function as control rooms functioning round the clock.

Kochi: The sea water at Fort Kochi beach receded on Thursday evening as the authorities evacuated tourists and vendors from the Fort Kochi beach and Marine drive. “There is no tsunami alert, however, there are chances of the sea getting rough.” said a revenue official. District collector K Mohammed Y Safirulla said all Taluk offices will function as control rooms functioning round the clock.

The regional Fisheries deputy director warned fishermen not to venture into sea as there is a possibility of the wind blowing at a speed of 75 kmph to 90 kmph.
