Telangana government extends Layout Regularisation Scheme till December 31

Rama Rao also said that installation of plastic flexis would be banned from the new year across the state.

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has extended the Layout Regularisation Scheme (LRS) to December 31. Municipal administration minister K.T. Rama Rao made the announcement after a meeting with municipal officials of Sangareddy and Sadashivpet municipalities at Sangareddy on Wednesday.

Taking a serious note of illegal constructions continuing in Sangareddy town, Mr Rama Rao asked such house owners to get municipal approvals by paying 25 per cent penalty by December 31 or face stringent action from New Year’s Day.

“We are strengthening all the municipalities and are recruiting personnel wherever required. Following recommendations of a committee comprising ministers T. Harish Rao and Tummala Nageswara Rao, the municipal commissioners will soon have magisterial powers,” he disclosed.

Mr Rao asked the Sangareddy district collector to submit details of illegal constructions in HMDA limits of Sangareddy within a week for taking necessary action.

He also stated that panchayats close to towns would be merged with the towns after their tenure was over.

On the request of minister Mr Harish Rao, Mr Rama Rao agreed to consider the plea for allocating tenders up to Rs 5 lakh on nomination basis, and permit the use of robo sand for public purposes.

Mr Rama Rao also said that installation of plastic flexis would be banned from the new year across the state.

He later visited Golconda Handicrafts Emporium and said the government would market the products in a big way and would soon open an outlet at Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi.

“The name Lepakshi has been changed to Golconda handicrafts to promote our art, culture and traditions. Since VAT replaced GST, we want to ensure the Centre and State protects handicrafts and other traditional crafts. We will request the Union finance minister to see that artisans are not affected due to GST. We will also have a tie up with online corporate,” he said.
