Hyderabad HC puts stay on APNGOs Society meeting

Counsel for the APNGOs, brought to the notice of the court that the erstwhile AP government had allotted 189.11 acres to the Society.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court has stayed the general body meeting of the AP Non-Gazetted Officers (Gachibowli), Mutually Aided Co-operative Housing Society scheduled for December 3, 2016, for six weeks.

Justice S.V. Bhatt granted the stay while dealing with a petition by the Society represented by its president challenging a notice issued by District Cooperative Registrar, of Hyderabad, for holding the meeting.

Hemendranath Reddy, counsel for the APNGOs, brought to the notice of the court that the erstwhile AP government had allotted 189.11 acres to the Society. However, the allotment was cancelled by the TS government after state bifurcation. Mr Reddy submitted that after cancellation of the allotment, several writ petitions were moved before the High Court which directed the TS government to maintain status quo.

He said that the High Court had also stayed operation of accounts of the APNGOs Association due to which it has become very difficult for the association to carry out its day-to-day activities. He submitted the district registrar issued a notice on the request of some TS native employees who are also members of the Society.

The judge pointed out that when the status quo and other orders pertaining to the society were still in force, issuance of the notice by the registrar does not arise.
The judge directed the Registrar not to convene the meeting and adjourned the case for six weeks.

Stop Vangaveeti clip: ex-MLA to Hyderabad HC
The Hyderabad High Court has asked the Central and AP governments to respond to a petition by Vangaveeti Radhakrishna, seeking to direct the Union of India, Vijayawada city police commissioner and Central Board of Film Certification to immediately stop Ramgopal Varma, director, and Dasari Kiran Kumar, producer, from exhibiting of the trailer/teaser of the film “Vangaveeti” on social media.

The court was dealing with a petition by Mr Radhakrishna seeking to declare as illegal the failure of the respondents to take action against Varma and Kiran Kumar for exhibiting the trailer of the film “Vangaveeti” on the Internet.

The petitioner told the court that the trailer contained distorted facts which are likely to provoke communal enmity and affect public order in AP, particularly in Vijayawada.

He submitted that the trailer of the film was being exhibited on social media without certification from the Central Board of Film Certification under the provisions of Cinematograph Act, 1952. The judge told the respondents to inform their stand by December 2.
