4 terror suspects brought from Madurai to probe Mysuru blast

The court granted the custody of the four accused until December 9, sources in the court told this newspaper.

Bengaluru: Four terror suspects, who were arrested in Madurai, were produced before the NIA Special Court in Bengaluru on Wednesday. Their transit warrant documentations were produced before the court and the NIA sought a 10-day custody of the accused for further investigations.

The court granted the custody of the four accused until December 9, sources in the court told this newspaper.

NIA sources said, “After getting a transit warrant from Chennai court, the NIA special court in Bengaluru has given the custody of the accused to us to probe the Mysuru court complex blast, which occurred on August 1. We will take the accused to Madurai and Chennai in Tamil Nadu, Bengaluru and Mysuru in Karnataka and a few places in Kerala.”

The arrested are Ayub Ali, 25, a resident of Madurai and a public liaison officer for a hearing aid company, Abbas Ali, 27, a painter, who also ran a library, ‘Darul Ilm’, in Madurai, Suleiman (23), who hailed from Madurai but worked in Chennai at a major IT company and Samsum Karim Raja, a resident of Madurai, a BCom graduate and ran a chicken broiler shop at Kannimara Koil street in Madurai. Suleiman is the leader of the terrorist gang, the police said.

The NIA registered the Mysuru court complex blast case on September 29, under Sections 120B, 121, 121A of IPC, Section 3, 10, 13,15,16,18 and 20 of UA(P) Act, 1967, section 3, 4 and 5 of Explosive Substances Act, 1908 and section 3 and 4 of the Prevention of damage to public property.
