J&K: Another police official murdered by militants

SRINAGAR: Gunmen shot and critically wounded a police official in Jammu and Kashmir's north-western Baramulla district on Tuesday evening.

The grievously injured off-duty police head-constable Ghulam Muhammad Dar was rushed to the sub-district hospital at Tangmarg where the doctors declared him dead.

The police said Dar was targeted by gunmen outside his home at Wailoo Kralpora, a village in Baramulla. "He was fired upon from point-blank range by terrorists. He died while being taken to the nearest medical facility," a police official said.

Two police officials and a seasonal labourer from Uttar Pradesh were shot by suspected militants in the Valle during the past three days. One of the police officials is undergoing treatment in a Srinagar hospital whereas two others died soon after being targeted.

On October 29, a J&K police inspector Masroor Ahmed Wani was shot and critically wounded by a suspected militant while he was playing cricket in Srinagar's Idgah grounds.

A day later (October 30), a seasonal worker from UP identified as Mukesh Kumar was shot by militants in the Tumchi Nowpora area of southern Pulwama district. He was pronounced dead by the doctors when taken to a nearby hospital.

J&K Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, has condemned these 'despicable and cowardly terrorist attacks" and said that the perpetrators will not go unpunished.
