Implement suburban rail at earliest: PC Mohan

Mohan said both of them had assured him of all possible cooperation and approvals at the earliest.

BENGALURU: Setting in motion a long-pending demand to implement a suburban rail project for Bengaluru, Mr P C Mohan, Member of Parliament representing Bangalore Central met Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi in New Delhi on Thursday urging the government to implement the project at the earliest.

After discussing with both the ministers, Mr Mohan said both of them had assured him of all possible cooperation and approvals at the earliest.

In his letter to Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi, Mr Mohan has requested the minister to personally intervene to fulfil the long pending dream of Bengalureans for a suburban railway network. This would go a long way in resolving the heavy traffic congestion in Bengaluru and also further increase the brand value of Bengaluru.

He said transportation remains the biggest concern of Bengalureans. The city’s traffic density is high which makes the commute time in Bengaluru long, he said. He added that the Centre and the State government have reached an in-principle agreement to build a suburband rail network for Bengaluru.
