Hyderabad: Man held with 667gm of gold in his rectum
Hyderabad: An air passenger who attempted to smuggle the gold worth over Rs 25 lakh, an iPhone, and 24 burqas, was apprehended by the Air Intelligence Unit of Hyderabad Customs at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Shamshabad on Wednesday night.
According to the customs officials, the passenger identified as Shaik Faryaz Ahmed arrived at Hyderabad in Indigo Airline Flight 6E 025 from Dubai on Wednesday. Acting on the intelligence, the passenger was intercepted for checking and found THE gold in his possession.
On a body scan, it was found that the air passenger was carrying gold in the form of powder in six cylindrical-shaped capsules inserted in his rectum. The yellow metal was extracted and the quantity of gold was found to be 667.210 gm valued at Rs 25,68,758, said the officials.
The passenger was also carrying an iPhone 11 pro valued at Rs 1.09 lakh and 24 burqas worth Rs 72,000 and tried to smuggle them. A case has been registered against Faryaz.
