Bengaluru: Probing theft, police crack murder case
Bengaluru: The Commercial Street police while investigating a theft case solved the murder of a 19-year-old youth from Kerala and arrested three people.
The victim, Goutham, was stabbed near Mysore Bank Circle on October 12, allegedly by Mohammed Zubair (19), Iqbal Ahmed Sharieff (20) and Mohd Abrar (19).
The accused stabbed Goutham when he resisted their attempt to rob his mobile phone on K.G. Road. He had come to the city on Oct. 9 to work in a courier company in Majestic.
The incident took place when Goutham, along with his friend Vysakh R, was returning home after dinner and stopped near SBI building footpath to take a selfie.
The accused came on a bike, stopped in front of them and tried to snatch their phones. When Goutham resisted, an accused stabbed him and he bled to death on the spot and the trio fled.
While Upparpet police had registered the murder case, the Commercial Street police by chance arrested the trio in a theft case.
During interrogation, they confessed to killing Goutham. The police recovered 17 mobile phones worth Rs 1.5 lakh from them and cracked seven mobile phone robbery cases.
