University of Hyderabad ropes in retired HC judge over V-C post matter
Hyderabad: Around 10 students of University of Hyderabad went on a relay hunger strike on Tuesday morning demanding the university authorities to speed up the decision process of the results for the vice-presidential post for the Students Union Elections.
Mr Naresh Lunavath, the candidate who won the elections, was reported to have less than 75 per cent attendance against the required per cent after the result declaration and the vice-president post was put on hold. In light of the relay hunger strike, the university has decided to request a retired judge of the High Court to examine and advise the university on the matter.
Students have demanded that Mr Naresh be straight away declared elected as vice-president. The retired judge will be handed over all records pertaining to the elections which are present with the election commission along with the attendance records of the School of Medical Sciences in which the candidate is a student. Students have once again been advised to give up the strike by the university authorities, failing which disciplinary action will be initiated for launching the strike without providing any notice to the administration.
