40 dialysis centres, 20 ICUs to be set up in Telangana: Laxma Reddy

He said of the 40 dialysis centres, five were already functional and the remaining would be completed soon.

Hyderabad: Health minister C. Laxma Reddy on Tuesday told the state Assembly that the TS government will establish 40 dialysis centres and 20 ICUs in identified state-run hospitals.

Replying to a question, Dr Reddy said that diagnostic centres will also be established as per national health mission guidelines.

He said of the 40 dialysis centres, five were already functional and the remaining would be completed soon.

Dr Reddy said that 34 centres would be single use centres and five existing multiuse dialysis centres at Osmania and Gandhi hospitals, MGM hospital at Warangal, and state-run hospitals at Nizamabad and Mahbubnagar.

He said that the government has sanctioned 1.32 crore for each of the 20 ICUs in the state.

98 per cent of Telangana free from gudumba
Excise minister T. Padma Rao on Tuesday told the TS Assembly that as part of curbing illegal gudumba brewing and rehabilitation measures, 5,039 beneficiaries have so far been covered under gudumba rehabilitation scheme in the state.

Under the scheme, each beneficiary is given Rs 2 lakh to start an alternative livelihood. Replying to a short discussion on eradication of gudumba and rehabilitation measures, the minister said as on date 98 per cent of the state was free from manufacture and sale of illicitly distilled liquor.

CWC clearances prove we are right: Harish Rao
Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao on Tuesday told the state Assembly that the hydrology clearance given by the Central Water Commission to Kaleswaram project was a slap on the face of who are demanding redesign of the project.

Replying to a question, the minister said that after re-engineering, the project will have a series of barrages with lift systems across the Godavari to lift 180 tmc ft of water to Sripada Yellampally project. He said that the Godavari would be rejuvenated due to standing water for most part of the year after completion of barrages from Medigadda to Yellampally.

Mr Rao said that there would be all-round improvement in socioeconomic condition of the state with rejuvenation of the Godavari, besides an assured irrigation benefits of 18.25 lakh acres of new ayacut and stabilisation of 18.82 lakh acres.
