Telangana Assembly, Council to be convened for 10 days in November

KCR has asked the Legislature Secretariat to prepare a note for obtaining approval of the Guv to convene the two Houses.

Hyderabad: The TS Assembly and Legislative Council will be convened in November for a minimum period of 10 days. According to sources, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has asked the Legislature Secretariat to prepare a note for obtaining approval of the Governor to convene the two Houses. After a day’s sitting of the Legislature on August 30, the session was prorogued by the Governor.

Though the CM promised continuation of the session to discuss various issues, including the drought situation, it did not happen. So far this year, the TS Legislature has met for the Budget session (16 days) and one day for ratifying the GST Bill. Leaders of various Opposition parties have slammed the government for not keeping its word on convening the Assembly.

However, the Chief Minister has now decided to convene the session just ahead of TRS government’s completion of is 2.5 year rule on December 2. With Opposition parties taking to the streets over pending fee reimbursement dues, the third instalment of crop loan waiver, non-clearance of Arogyasri dues etc, the session is expected to be stormy.
