Telangana and Andhra Pradesh top in ease of doing business list
Hyderabad: The two Telugu states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have created a record of sorts by becoming joint toppers in the Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) rankings in the country for 2015-16.
The two states had scored 98.78 per cent each in the rankings announced by Union minister of commerce and industry Nirmala Sitharaman, on Monday. Gujarat, which topped the list last year fell to third place. TS improved significantly by climbing from 13th rank last year to first rank; AP climbed from second rank to first.
The two states were engaged in a bitter fight early this year to secure good rankings. They accused each other of stealing online data on business reforms and even lodged complaints with the Centre.
TS Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao said, “The ranking was given based on 340 parameters and TS fared better on all of them. TS secured maximum score in adopting transparency in policy making, single window approval, land availability, construction and environmental clearances etc. Due to this, TS attracted over 2,550 industries within a short period.”
