Hyderabad: Over three months after an installation by the art collective Whimaway was put up at a footpath in Ashok Nagar to bring its dilapidated condition to the notice of the municipal authorities, the GHMC finally took notice and began working on restoring the footpath.
According to Nithya Suri, one of the artists who worked on the installation that read ‘R.I.P. Footpath,’ the GHMC began clearing the footpath about a week ago. “They are removing garbage. They’re also reconstructing the fence that was crumbling,” says Nithya. She adds, “They still haven’t begun work on the actual footpath. So we’re still trying to make the GHMC lower the height of the footpath and to rebuild it.”
