Devendra Fadnavis warns non-performing babus, says will be shown doors
Nagpur: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has warned non-performing officials and workers of various departments of action if they fail to comply with government directives.
"The government will not hesitate to show them doors. Such officers will be sent home," the chief minister replied to a query in Nagpur on Monday when asked about non-performing bureaucrats and workers.
He said the entire digitisation, Right to Service Act and other pro-people measures have been initiated to reduce friction and direct interface with the people and make entire system transparent, speedy and result oriented.
"No excuses will be entertained for red-tapism, or delayed and flawed decision making," the CM told reporters.
When asked whether the bureaucracy has mended ways as he had sometime earlier claimed 70 per cent of them were not co-operating, he said most of the senior officers are doing a good job and claimed that even the performance of ministers is being assessed as per Key Result Area (KRA) fixed for the respective department.
On the issue of statehood for Vidarbha, a region he hails from, and BJP's promise to create it, he said, the ball is in Centre's court.
"As far as I am concerned, and also the BJP, the view is unchanged," he said.
Separate Vidarbha was one of the promises of the BJP during the state assembly poll campaign in 2014.
Dismissing the view that most decisions taken by him in the last two years were favouring Vidarbha, Fadnavis said his government was only trying to undo the injustice done for decades to Vidarbha and Marathwada.
Fadnavis said state had made remarkable progress on several fronts and work was in progress on others.
Quoting Niti Aayog ranking declared yesterday, Fadnavis said Maharashtra was adjudged top state in agriculture marketing scoring 81 per cent marks.
He said on the 'ease of doing business' front, the state was at the 10th place though it had made remarkable improvement in its score from 49 per cent last year to 92 per cent this year.
"The state jumped to third position from 16th last year in education sector. We have started maximum number of accounts under Jan Dhan Yojana. Against 17 lakh farmers insured during Congress- NCP rule, the number has now touched 80 lakh," Fadnavis said.
