Bhopal: A huge response has been received at the email ID given out by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted by Madhya Pradesh police to probe the sensational honey-trap scandal, seeking information from the public on the racket.
The SIT publicised an exclusive email ID among the public asking those in the know to throw light on activities of the accused involved in honeytrapping and blackmailing of high-profile victims, who included politicians and senior bureaucrats. The SIT assured informants that their anonymity would be ensured.
“The email ID has received over 100 emails so far,” sources disclosed to this newspaper on Monday.
While some of the mails have shared inputs on activities of the racketeers involved, others have tipped off the police on the sex rackets being run in their areas, though not linked to the honey-trap gang.
“We have referred the information on these rackets to the authorities concerned for action”, said an officer. The SIT is mulling raids based on inputs volunteered by the people, sources said.
