Hyderabad: 24 detained in cordon and search operation

The police visited the houses of the migrants and verified details of around 1,200 people living in the labour camps in the colony.

Hyderabad: The Cyberabad police has detained 24 persons and seized 29 vehicles during a cordon- and-search operation conducted at Madhuranagar under Raidurgam police station limits on Saturday and Sunday.

About 200 policemen including Armed Reserve Police cordoned Madhuranagar areas in Raidurgam, where the residents are mostly migrants from Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar.

The police visited the houses of the migrants and verified details of around 1,200 people living in the labour camps in the colony.

During the searches, 26 suspects were detained for failing to produce relevant identification documents. The police also seized 24 bikes, four autos, and a car, for no documents to claim the ownership of the vehicles.

The police said that the search operation was to ensure a safer environment for the citizens of the colony and provide confidence among them about their safe stay.
