Navy Day events kick off in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: Navy Day 2016 celebrations started off with a health camp at R.K. Mission High School here on Friday.
The Navy holds a string of events leading up to the Navy Day on December 4. The events are aimed at showcasing the ‘Silent Service’ and also to raise awareness among citizens. The Eastern Naval Command (ENC), too, has scheduled a series of activities as part of the Navy Day celebrations.
These activities, spread out over two months, provide an opportunity to the local people to interact with the Navy personnel. The celebrations started with a health camp organised organised by the Eastern Fleet on Friday.
The camp was inaugurated by INHS Kalyani commanding officer, Surg Cmde Rahul Ray. The flag officer, Commanding Eastern Fleet, Rear Admiral S.V. Bhokare, R.K. Mission ashram secretary Swami Atmavidanandaji Maharaj, and R.K. Mission high school in-charge Swami Guneshanadaji Maharaj attended the camp.
The aim of the camp was to bring about health awareness among schoolchildren and the teachers. Eight naval doctors, including a lady gynaecologist and 20 medical assistants/supporting staff examined 253 students from classes VI to Class
X. Children requiring further follow up were referred to KGH, VGH and Government Regional Eye Hospital.
