Memorandum of Understanding signed for forensic tests in Vijayawada
Vijayawada: The Gujarat Forensic Sciences University (GFSU) has entered into an agreement with International Institute of Digital Technology (IIDT), Tirupati, supported by the Andhra Pradesh Electronics and IT Agency (APEITA), established by the state government.
The Memorandum of Understanding is aimed at collaborating in joint research projects in the cyber security, digital forensic and financial fraud analytics, for the School of Cyber Security (SCS), at IIDT, Tirupati.
(MoU) and general agreement for collaboration was signed by Dr J.M. Vyas of the GFSU, special chief secretary J.A. Chowdary and IT secretary to the Chief Minister P.S. Pradyumna here on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vyas said that the GFSU will mentor, guide and partner in creating and delivering masters education programmes to students, creating and delivering short-term certificate and diploma training programmes to corporate employees and government officers, and also delivering online and virtual training programmes.
The GFSU and IIDT will offer joint certificates, diploma and degree to graduating students, Dr Vyas said and added that both the institutions have agreed to establish and promote faculty, student exchanges and arrange joint delegations and visits. Collaboration in joint research projects in the cyber security, digital forensic and financial fraud analytics areas will be the most important aspect of the MoU, according to Dr Vyas and IT advisor to the Chief Minister J.A. Chowdary. They said that the focus will be more on collaborating on infrastructure requirements and share as relevant for the benefit of researchers and students.
This MoU, which will be in vogue for a period of five years, has also mentioned about creating a special purpose vehicle (SPV), to work collaboratively and share revenues, to provide consulting and advisory services to various government agencies and individuals, corporates for policy framework and execution framework creation, PEN testing, ethical hacking, and secure website hosting.
Both the institutions have agreed to explore and establish a forum to spread awareness on cyber security to the citizens, and demonstrate thought leadership through publishing white papers, conducting orientation seminars, national and international workshops. Joint secretary to the Chief Minister and IT secretary P.S. Pradyumna and programme director (business analyitics), Praxis Business School, Kolkata, Dr Prithwis Mukherjee were present.
