YSR health varsity cancels PG counselling

Vijayawada: The Dr YSR University of Health Sciences has cancelled the phase-1 admissions to the Competent Authority Quota (in-service and non-service) and Management Quota for PG medical courses for the 2023-24 academic year here on Thursday.

University registrar Radhika Reddy issued a notification about the cancellation of admissions to PG medical courses and said the phase-1 notification for exercising fresh web options along with the revised seat matrix would be released shortly. All the candidates were advised to check the university website for further updates.

On Wednesday, the university issued a notification citing the national medical commission’s public notice stating that fake/forged letter of permission was issued on behalf of member/president, MARB, NCM, New Delhi. Accordingly, it kept the PG medical counselling for phase-1 admissions into CAQ and MQ quotas.

University sources, based on preliminary information, turned down the allegations that a few private medical colleges filled up PG seats beyond the NMC-permitted strength and clarified that the NMC might not have updated the number of seats permitted by it on its website while the YSRUHC posted the seat matrix on its website as per NMC permitted strength of seats.

Moreover, the state government is learnt to have communicated with the NMC seeking a clarification on the issue. Meanwhile, the ongoing PC counselling has been cancelled temporarily.
