Thanjavur: Cases against RTO personnel, Rs 3 lakh cash seized

In connection with these raids, cases have been registered against 11 persons.

THANJAVUR: Vigilance and Anti-corruption police here on Saturday registered cases against eleven officials, staff and brokers of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) after the raids conducted by them late on Friday evening.

According to police, in the raids conducted under the leadership of Manoharan, deputy superintendent of police, Vigilance and Anti-corruption, Thanjavur district, in the RTO office opposite to the collectorate, unaccounted money of Rs 2,86,990 was seized.

Of this amount, Rs 43,080 was seized from RTO Karthikeyan, Rs 40,642 from superintendent Meenambal and accountant Ramasamy, Rs 24,220 from Veermani, a senior staff and rest of the amount from brokers also. In connection with these raids, cases have been registered against 11 persons. The seized money was sent to Kumbakonam court. Police are enquiring to find out how and from where the money came.
