Balachandra Jarkiholi pips HD Revanna, wins KMF top post

Revanna, who was eyeing the post soon after the collapse of the Kumaraswamy government.

Bengaluru: BJP MLA, Balachandra Jarkiholi, has beaten senior JD(S) leader, H D Revanna in the race for the coveted post of president of the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF).

Mr Revanna, who was eyeing the post soon after the collapse of the Kumaraswamy government, sent three directors of the KMF to lobby on his behalf. But it was a wasted effort as Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa reportedly persuaded all the directors to switch loyalty from the Congress and JD(S) to Mr Jarkiholi, allowing him to be unanimously elected as KMF president.

Following his victory, Mr Jarkiholi said, “as expected I have been elected president by unopposed. I am keen to serve the state's farmers through the KMF. I am grateful to all the directors for supporting me.”

Claiming that he was not interested in becoming a minister in the Yediyurappa government , he added that his brother, Ramesh would get the minister's post and he would work for the betterment of farmers. “I will try to make sure they get more milk subsidy,” he assured.

Mr Yediyurappa, who was in a fix after excluding Mr Balachandra Jarkiholi while forming his cabinet, had reportedly promised him the KMF post and made sure he kept his word.
