The groups or associations should carry out procession after 9 pm to avoid any traffic congestion.

Bengaluru: The city traffic police want organisations carrying out Ganesha procession to ensure that they do not disturb traffic movement during peak hours.

The groups or associations should carry out procession after 9 pm to avoid any traffic congestion. They will not be allowed to cause obstruction to the traffic flow.

A senior traffic police officer said, "We do not want the procession to affect traffic movement, as it has spiralling affect on adjacent roads and leads to chaos. We will be requesting the associations to take out the procession after 9 pm, when the traffic density is low. During immersion we are also planning to allow only 6 to 8 members from every group near the immersion point, as this will help avoid congestion."

"We will be deploying traffic police along with civil police near the lakes, where immersion takes place and ensure that there are no huge gatherings. Unnecessary blocking of roads or causing traffic obstruction will be dealt strictly," the officer added.

The BBMP and KSPCB have also increased the number of mobile immersion tanks to avoid towards water bodies to immerse the idols. The BBMP has requested the public to make use of the mobile immersion tanks, as it is convenient. People should only immerse the idols, while the flowers and other materials will not be allowed and they will be asked to take it back.
