AP panchayat offices get YSRC colour code

The BJP has objected to this order and pointed out that gram panchayat offices are not the YSRC’s party offices.

Vijayawada: The YSR Congress government in Andhra Pradesh has drawn flak for issuing an order to paint gram panchayat buildings in the party colours with state government funds.

The government issued a direction to collectors to re-paint gram panchayat buildings with a photograph of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy covering one-fourth of the surface of the name board!

It instructed the collectors to follow the colour code on the gram panchayat buildings. Panchayat raj and rural development commissioner M. Girija Sankar issued the letter No. 751/CPR&RD/S/2019 dated August 28, 2019. Details pertaining to design of the building and colour are also specified.

Accordingly, as many as 11,158 gram panchayats are to be painted in YSR Congress colours and will have the CM staring out of the name boards.

The BJP has objected to this order and pointed out that gram panchayat offices are not the YSRC’s party offices.
