Tense moments at CR Patna booth

Helped by his relatives, who carried him on the stretcher, Jayanna managed to vote and left the polling booth a happy man.

Hassan: There were some tense moments at a polling booth in ward number 2 of Channarayapatna town in Hassan as the serial numbers of the BJP and Congress party candidates got swapped in the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) during the urban local body polls on Friday. While Sujatha, the Congress nominee, was given the serial number 2 by polling officials, BJP candidate Shankaramma was allotted serial number 3.

But on polling day the two women found their serial numbers swapped, leading to arguments with the officials present as the candidates demanded a stop to polling to sort out the confusion. But the officials persuaded them to go by the serial numbers in the EVM and polling continued. In Holenarsipura taluk, newly weds, Puja and Karthik, headed straight for the polling booth soon after tying the knot at a choultry nearby.

While Puja belongs to Holenarsipura, Karthik is from Hassan and when his bride told him that she wanted to vote going with him, he readily agreed and accompanying her to the polling booth. But showing even more enthusiasm to exercise his franchise, a man arrived on a stretcher to a polling booth in Sakleshpur from a hospital where he was being treated for his injuries in an accident. Helped by his relatives, who carried him on the stretcher, Jayanna managed to vote and left the polling booth a happy man.
