Team under CS Tom Jose to oversee Pamba rebuild

Thiruvananthapuram: The government has constituted a high level committee headed by chief secretary Tom Jose for taking urgent measures to restore flood ravaged Pamba and to make arrangements for the mandala makaravilakku festival season.

Thiruvananthapuram: The committee will supervise the activities of reconstruction of roads, bridges and other infrastructure facilities in Pamba and surrounding areas. The team comprises senior bureaucrats Dr V. Venu, K.R. Jyothi Lal, Tinku Biswal and State Police Chief Loknath Behara.

The mandala makaravilakku season begins on November 17. The government wants the reconstruction of roads, bridges and buildings to be completed in a time bound manner. Tata Project Ltd has been entrusted with the task of reconstruction activities.

At a high level meeting here on August 29, the Chief Minister had reviewed the situation in Pamba and Sabarimala. He directed the officials to put in place proper facilities for the devotees before the mandala makaravilakku season.
