Tirupati: Technology to reduce crime
TIRUPATI: Tirumala police is upgrading its technical path to help prevent crime. As many as 14 members were taken into custody in the last couple of weeks with the help of the Fingerprint Identification Network System. The fingerprint device is connected to the mobile in which the criminal data of the state is coded by logging into an internal app. The police have kept surveillance on people moving suspiciously around Tirumala. While verifying the fingerprints, as many as 14 members were found having a criminal background. The persons caught were from different parts of Andhra Pradesh.
The police have sent a team to remand the previous cases and some were asked to leave Tirumala city. They have been questioned by the police regarding their intention to come to Tirumala. The same will be implemented with more effectiveness during the upcoming Brahmotsavam. There are many technologies that are still being studied by the police to aid them in nabbing criminals and prevent the crime rate of the city from rising.
Presently the technology is being used to track the cases, with its concentration slowly shifting to prevent crimes. Additional SP of Tirumala, Mr Murali said, "We are using the fingerprint technology on people who roam the streets and are suspicious.” He added, “We are presently using this in Tirumala. We are working out a way by which these people are stopped at checkpoints in Tirupati.”
“Any suspicious person with an intention to commit a crime would not be allowed to enter the hills and woukd be caught red-handed. The SP, Abhishek Mohanty is keen to prevent crimes in Tirumala. We are planning to use the same technology for the upcoming Brahmotsavam," he said.
