Will fight till special category status given: N Raghuveera Reddy
Amalapuram: State Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Raghuveera Reddy said that the Congress will fight until the state gets special category status.
Speaking to newsmen here on Wednesday, he said that both the TD and BJP were trying to mislead the people in the state on the issue. He said that as many as 11 political parties and nine states accepted to accord special status to AP.
Maintaining that the then Union Cabinet in UPA-led Congress regime approved for according special status to AP in its meeting held on March 1, 2014 and recommended for financial aid worth Rs 5 lakh crore, he flayed TD regime for failing to get the funds.
Referring to the minister for finance Yanamala Ramakrishnudu's statement that the Centre had sanctioned only Rs 6,000 crore so far, he said that the state government totally failed even to get proper funds for development of the state.
With regard to the Telugu Desam government's anticipation that the Centre was going to make some announcement on September 2, he said that they wanted only special status to Andhra Pradesh and not special financial package.
He cautioned that if the Centre delays further in according special tag to AP, the people would teach a lesson to it.
