Telangana high court seeks cops’ stand on FIR on Konappa

A video CD of the MLA giving instructions to the tribals was also submitted as proof.

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Wednesday sought the Telangana Police’s stand on the petition, alleging that they were made to dance to the tunes of the political bosses in the state and were not registering the case against the TRS MLA for charges of intimidating government officials.

Justice A. Rajasheker Reddy was dealing with a petition filed by Dr. Palvai Harish Babu, a practising doctor in Sirpur Kagaznagar and a political activist, alleging that the police were not acting on his complaint dated July 10, wherein he brought to their notice how the ruling party MLA was tutoring tribal witnesses in defense of the accused Koneru Krishna. A video CD of the MLA giving instructions to the tribals was also submitted as proof.

The petitioner sought the Court to direct the the SP of Komaram Bheem Asifabad to register an FIR and conduct an investigation against Sirpur MLA Koneru Konappa for trying to influence witnesses and tampering with the evidence in the case of the assault on the Forest Range Officer Ch. Anitha on June 30 by the MLA’s brother Koneru Krishna and others.

As the Station House Officer of Kagaznagar Town police station was not acting on his complaint, Dr Palvai Harish approached the HC seeking a direction to the police to register an FIR and begin a probe.

The Court directed the Government Pleader of Home to get instructions in this regard and posted the case to next week for further hearing.
