Hyderabad: The Telangana unit of the BJP has made a dent in the membership of the Congress and the TRS NRI cell in the United States.
According Telangana BJP president Dr K. Laxman, who returned from the US recently, said Telugu NRIs from TS and AP to join the BJP.
Speaking to this newspaper, Dr. K. Laxman said, “We held a few meetings with NRIs staying in the United States, where 25 to 30 top-notch Telugu NRIs joined the BJP during our programme in the US.”
“He educated the Telugu NRIs about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for Telangana, which they have appreciated. The Telugu NRIs from the state are willing to join the BJP as they supported Chief Minister K. Chandr-asekhar Rao with a motive, which never got achieved. During the UPA regime, NRIs shared that they felt humiliated and were used to be hesitated in calling themselves Indians but after Mr Modi became PM they feel proud to call themselves Indians.” Dr. Laxman added.
On Triple Talaq, he said, “It’s a law to serve justice to Muslim women and there is no religious angle to it.”
