Hyderabad: Bhanu convicted in Arms Act case
Hyderabad: Mallisetty Bhanu Kiran, who is currently serving a life sentence in connection with the murder of Gangula Suryanarayana Reddy alias Maddelacheruvu Suri, a faction leader from Andhra Pradesh, has been convicted once again. In a separate case he was sentenced to three years of imprisonment for giving false information in an Arms Act case.
The Nampally criminal court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Kiran, said senior assistant public prosecutor K.V Beena. City police had earlier arrested Kiran on charges of using a pistol in 2011 despite expiry of its license. The weapon was also seized from his possession. He, however, furnished false information to the Kha-mmam District Collector suppressing the facts related to his involvement in a criminal case.
Besides this, investigation revealed that Kiran gave wrong information to the judicial officer and obtained the arms license. Apart from the Arms Act case that was booked against Kiran, after seizing the pistol from him, a separate case under Section 181 (False statement on oath or affirmation to a public servant or person authorized to administer an oath or affirmation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered against him.
On December 18, 2018, Kiran had received a life sentence for killing Suri on January 3, 2011.
