Bengaluru: Criminal case against PoP idol makers
Bengaluru: BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad has warned that criminal cases will be slapped against those manufacturing, hoarding and selling PoP idols within the city limits.
At a meeting convened to discuss measures to curb PoP Ganesha idols in the city, the BBMP Commissioner said, “As per HC order, only eco-friendly idols should be used. PoP idols and painted idols should not be used. All those involved in manufacturing and selling such idols will be dealt with seriously and criminal cases will be filed against them.”
He said that police protection was also being sought in implementing this ban and they will help in curbing the entry of such idols from other states to the city.
For installing idols in public places, permissions shall be granted through a single window system by BBMP in association with BESCOM and police, he said.
