Shia community urges Telangana govt to hold Muharram meet well in advance

Syed Ali Jaffery, member of Shia Companions, said funds are released only a day before Youm-e-Ashura.

Hyderabad: The Shia community has asked the Telangana state government to hold the “Muharram meeting” at least four weeks before the first month of the Islamic calenders begins.

The community argued that the meeting arrangement for Muharram are being held every year just days before the 10th of Muharram which delay the works announced by the government.

“Several works remain pending and are done after the Youm-e-Ashura day. What is the use of grounding or taking up works after the important day of the month passes off,” said Mir Abbas Ali Moosavi, caretaker of Baadshahi Aashoorkhana. Syed Ali Jaffery, member of Shia Companions, said funds are released only a day before Youm-e-Ashura.
