K Chandrashekhar Rao mortgaged Telangana, says Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad: Congress leader Mr Revanth Reddy has criticised the TRS government for minting money in the guise of implementing drinking water and irrigation projects. He stated that Mr K Chandrashekhar Rao never mentioned re-designing the Pranahita-Chevella project during the separate statehood movement. Redesigning and Mission Bhagiratha were meant for amassing properties for his family, Mr. Reddy said, while calling for an open debate at Press Club at Gun Park.
“The Congress government spent Rs 11,000 crore on Pranahita whereas, the TRS government increased the project cost of Kaleshwaram to Rs 84,000 crore from Rs 34,000 crore by redesigning it. Without answering this question, Mr Harish Rao is making baseless allegations against the Congress party. He is spewing more venom on the Congress and JAC than a black cobra. He should reveal who will get water. Is it not a fact that experts advised the government not to build a project at Medigadda? After the completion of the Kaleshwaram project, the cost per acre will touch Rs 1.54 lakh because of bank loans. We are against corruption in the name of projects, but not against projects. The TRS government has borrowed Rs 2.5 lakh crore in the past four years. If the money is distributed among Telanganites, each person will get Rs 1 lakh.” said Mr Reddy.
He said he was ready for public debate wherever the irrigation minister preferred, whether Palamuru, Rangareddy, Netta-mpadu, Kalvakurti, Pranahita or Nizamsagar. “The choice is yours, Harish Rao,” said Mr Reddy. The CM had purposely blocked the 17 km tunnel built for SLBC for irrigating three lakh acres, he alleged.
