Supercede BBMP for not consulting us, says Opposition
Bengaluru: Leader of the opposition in BBMP Padmanabha Reddy demanded that BBMP should be superseded by the state government. His statement comes in the wake of the framing of the draft Common Zoning Regulations and Uniform Building Bylaws by the civic body. He argued that BBMP's elected representatives weren't consulted and were kept in the dark about these initiatives adding that it had been happening all the time.
Speaking at the BBMP council meet on Monday, he said "There are 198 corporators, 5 MPs and 28 MLAs for Bengaluru. But the job of preparing the Central Business District (CBD) Master Plan is not with us. If they do not want to consult us, then why in first place do they need BBMP? Let the state government supersede it," Mr Padmanabha Reddy suggested.
The BBMP Commissioner who took objection to this, said “BDA is entrusted with the task of preparing the Uniform Building Bylaw. These Uniform Building Bylaws and Common Zoning Regulations will be widely debated and discussed in BBMP before they become an Act.”
Army dug up newly laid road

He alleged that even after repeated complaints to the army authorities, the road in not restored. "I have raised the issue with army officials. They are not ready to pay for the damage. The officials have instead lodged a police complaint against me for objecting to their act" he said and added that he was ready to even go to jail. He demanded action against army officials and the restoration of the road. BBMP Mayor Padmavathi said that a police complaint cannot be lodged against army men.
