Kerala RSS worker murder: Murder is political, says remand report

However, the deceased Rajesh used his political influence to ensure that Manikuttan was booked.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The remand report filed by police before Vanchiyoor court pointed out local political reasons behind the murder of RSS Basti Karyavahak S. L. Rajesh. As per the police version, the prime accused Manikuttan and his friends had attacked the house of one Vishnu, early in July over a political rivalry. Though Vishnu filed a police complaint, Manikuttan was trying for a backdoor settlement as one more crime case against him would make him eligible for detention under anti-goonda act.

However, the deceased Rajesh used his political influence to ensure that Manikuttan was booked. This encouraged the 11-member gang who were financially inter-dependent to murder Rajesh. Seven suspects were subjected to medical test and produced before the court by 5.30 pm on Monday. They were remanded to judicial custody. As per sources, the arrest of three others will be recorded on Tuesday.
