Andhra Pradesh-owned DCI bags US AMVER award
Visakhapatnam: State-owned Dredging Corporation of India bagged the AMVER Award by the Consulate General of the USA, Hyderabad. AMVER award is given to those companies whose ships have actively participated in the AMVER (Automated Mutual-Assistance Vessel Rescue System), a world-wide voluntary reporting system sponsored by the United States Coast Guard.
Rajesh Tripathi, CMD of DCI, received the award from Consul General Katherine B Hadda. It is a computer-based global ship reporting system used worldwide by search and rescue authorities to arrange for assistance to persons in distress at sea. With AMVER, rescue co-ordinators can identify participating ships in the area of distress and divert the best-suite ships under any obligation to assist in search and rescue efforts. DCI’s dredgers participated in AMVER system and helped in search and rescue of vessels in distress.
