Hyderabad: Nearly 12,500 engineering seats in the convener quota remained vacant following the final phase of counselling for BE courses. For 28,978 seats in different colleges, 13,953 were cleared for admission on Sunday. Two of the 199 colleges saw zero admissions, 80 colleges saw all their seats taken.
Mr Vijender Reddy, owner of Vardhaman Engineering College, said this year tow the number of eligible candidates was less than the number of available seats. Against about 73,000 seats, there were 69,000 eligible candidates. Some of them joined IITs, NITs, and IIITs deemed institutions and colleges in other states, leading to seats remaining vacant. There were 2,394 vacant seats in in B.Pharmacy and Pharm.D courses.
