Bhopal: A judge of Gwalior bench of Madhya Pradesh high court has found a novel way to promote environment- by putting condition of planting at least 100 trees on bail seekers. Justice Sheel Nagu has set condition of planting 100 fruit bearing and shadow creating trees and appointing tree-guards to take care of their growth for one year while granting bail to the accused in different crimes.
The accused that have been granted bail on this condition have been asked to plant 100 trees each near the spot of their crimes and rear them for at least for a year. As many 36 under-trials facing criminal charges of various kinds have been granted bail on the ‘unique’ condition by the judge in June 21-25 this year. “This will not only send a social message but also promote environment”, a senior advocate of Gwalior bench of the MP High Court observed. Meanwhile, the judge ordered the local public prosecutor in Morena district in MP to probe if the accused that was granted bail recently by his court carried out plantation of trees near the crime spot to meet his bail condition.
