Cabinet panel on TD govt to submit report in 45 days

The committee will look into 30 major issues in the wake of large-scale allegations of corruption that marked Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu\'s regime.

Vijayawada: The Cabinet subcommittee that was appointed by the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy Government to review the various policy decisions taken by the past TD government in the last five years, will submit its report in 45 days. The committee will look into 30 major issues in the wake of large-scale allegations of corruption that marked Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu's regime.

Chief Minister Mr Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy met the committee members on Sunday to lay down the guidelines and to delegate tasks among them, besides apprising them of the intent behind the exercise.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, agriculture minister Mr Kurasala Kanna Babu underscored that the Chief Minister had categorically told them the intention of the exercise was to save the money of the State exchequer, and not to settle political scores with anyone.

“In the wake of massive corruption allegations against the past TD Government, this is meant to save the public money from being wasted and going into wrong hands. There is no scope for settling political scores,” the CM had told in the meeting, said Mr Kanna Babu.

Accordingly, the ministers will primarily look into irrigation projects and more importantly Polavaram project that have become infamous primarily because of charges of massive corruption levelled against them. Alongside, land allotments, incentives given to various industrialists to set up their firms in the CRDA region will be reviewed too. Urban housing project taken up by the TD government in Vijayawada city will also come under the scanner due to allegations of escalating project costs. The ministers will meet once every four or five days to review the progress of their findings. The CM will oversee their work on a fortnightly basis.
