UAE minister meets CM, hints at consulate in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A delegation led by UAE Foreign Minister Shiekh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan called on Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy here on Saturday.
Mr Kumaraswamy said that Karnataka looks forward to collaboration and investments in health, education and agriculture sectors from UAE.
UAE's National Oil Company, Adnoc had already agreed to store crude oil in Indian's maiden strategic storage centres in the state. Karnataka was building underground storages at Mangaluru and Padur to store oil, he added.
The UAE Minister said his country was looking forward for cooperation in the areas of science, technology, infrastructure, research and development, nano technology, bio-technology amongst others. He hoped to establish a consulate office in Bengaluru in the near future.
He noted that Bengaluru was the second most visited city, after Mumbai, for health tourism. There was extensive exchange of views on various matters connected to expansion of economic engagement. The delegation evinced keen interest in faculty and student exchange programmes, scholarships and research between the two regions.
