Hyderabad man in Saudi Arabia jail for four years

As he was not paid salary and made to work for long hours, he ran away.

Hyderabad: A Hyderabad man is languishing in a prison in Saudi Arabia after allegedly wrongly held in a theft case.

According to his family, Mohammed Fareed, a resident of Vattepally in Falaknuma, went to Saudi Arabia in 2012 to work as a driver with one Mohammed Bin Hamza Bin Hassan Al Husavi in Jeddah. “As he was not paid salary and made to work for long hours, he ran away,” said Fareed’s mother Razia Sultana.

After a few weeks, Fareed found a job with a scrap shop in Jeddah. In 2014, police raided the shop following a complaint against the manager and Fareed was caught along with him. “He was in no way connected to the illegal activities of the manager,” she said. He is now in Wadi Asfan Jail on Jeddah-Madina road. The family requested the Centre to help in the matter.
