Hyderabad High Court closes contempt case on government officals

The petitioner had challenged the proceedings issued by the state government for regularisation of services of contract lecturers.

Hyderabad: Three senior IAS officers on Friday submitted before the Hyderabad High Court that they have not regularised the services of contract lecturers working in government polytechnics in Telangana state.

Ranjeev Acharya, principal higher education secretary, Sandeep Kumar Sultania, finance secretary and A. Vani Prasad, technical education commissioner filed the affidavits before the court stating that they have not violated the assurance given to the High Court earlier by way of regularising services of contract lecturers.

The special government pleader had on July 1, 2016 given the assurance to the court on behalf of the three officers in response to a petition by one M. Sanjeev.

The petitioner had challenged the proceedings issued by the state government for regularisation of services of contract lecturers.

Mr Sanjeev moved the contempt case against the officials, alleging that they had violated the assurance given to the court.

When the contempt case came up for hearing before a division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganthan and Justice P. Naveen Rao, counsel for the government placed the counter affidavits of the officials and told the bench that they had asked the contract lecturers to appear before them with their certificates so that they can prepare the list of contract lecturers.

He said that it is only an internal correspondence and till date, no orders were passed for regularisation of services of the contract lecturers.

While considering their affidavits, the bench closed the contempt case.
