PV Narasimha Rao took quick decisions, says former Home Secretary
Hyderabad: Former home secretary K. Padmanabhaiah asserted that former prime minister P.V. Narasimha Rao took quick decisions, contrary to the propaganda that he was “indecisive.”
“He was quick to take decisions and I am witness to it. If he did not want to take a decision immediately, he would say, ‘Padmanabhaiah. not taking a decision is also a decision,” he recalled.
Stating that Rao did not get the credit he deserved, he said the former prime minister was never comfortable in New Delhi.
“He always used to say, ‘what kind of snakes live in the pit here’. Five cases were filed against him including the St Kitts, JMM, Lakubhai ases but he got a clean chit,” he said.
He was speaking at a function here to mark the release of a book on Rao, Narasimhudu in Telugu, written by Vinay Sitapati, who wrote the English version, Half Lion.
Mr P.V.R.K. Prasad, media adviser to Rao and former CBI director K. Vijayarama Rao paid rich tributes to the former prime minister.
Mr Prasad said Rao’s life was a message to politicians. He held all positions from the village level and came out of crises without a scratch. “Not a single case was proved against him,” he said.
