Farmers' groups to get Rs 7 thousand crore funds
Anantapur: Anantapur would soon have Farmers Producers’ Organisations, an innovative programme to improve income source for the farmers of Anantapur district, agriculture minister Pattipati Pullarao said. Several companies came forward to ink MoUs with the farmers and also the farmers' groups have an opportunity to get funds directly from the Nabard. The new concept would be formally launched by the Union ministers and the Chief Minister during a programme at Dharmavaram.
It is expected the farmer groups could get at least Rs 7,000 crore in coming five years. The agriculture minister took part in distribution of crop loan waiver letters to the farmers at Gooty in the district. Accompanied by IT minister Palle Raghunath Reddy, the minister told media that Chief Minister was firm on developing the district as drought-free through various programmes including perennial irrigation sources through projects.
Briefing over the concept of Farmers Producers’ Organisations, the minister observed the concept was brain child of Chief Minister to overcome drought. “More than 84 lakh farmers benefited through crop loan waiver scheme with an estimated Rs 24,000 crore in the state. TD government had taken a courageous decision to benefit the farmers”, Mr Pulla Rao said and added more than Rs 2,725 crore was spent on scheme benefiting 8 lakh farmers in Anantapur district alone.
IT minister Palle Raghunath Reddy lashed out at YSRC chief and leader of the opposition Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy that he had no sympathy even from his party leaders who were leaving party over his behaviour. The opposition leader did nothing for the state, he said. .
