People show no interest in vaccination in Adilabad district

At various centers, the staff postponed vaccination as fewer persons turned up on Monday

ADILABAD: Medical and health department officials have failed to mobilize and motivate people to take Covid vaccine in old Adilabad district.

The reluctance of people to get vaccinated has shocked officials. Interestingly, hundreds of people used to throng vaccine centres when there was shortage of vials but now no one is turning when the doses are available.

It is said that people are not showing interest because of lockdown restrictions. The medical staff says that they can’t open a Covaxin vial when there are less than ten persons and less than eight for Covishield.

At various centers, the staff postponed vaccination as fewer persons turned up on Monday.

Devamma of Bheemsari was waiting from the morning for a second dose of Covaxin at Hamaliwada urban health centre but she could get vaccinated only in the afternoon since there were less than 10 persons.

Same is the case with Khursheed Nagar urban health centre where vaccination did not take place as only four members turned up.

It is learnt that people who came to RIMS waited till afternoon for the same reason. It is also said that lockdown has affected vaccination activity since people are not getting sufficient time to reach the centres.
