Vijayawada: Financial Literacy Week from June 3

He said that the bankers should come forward to issue agriculture loans in large numbers.

Vijayawada: Awareness programmes, as part of the Financial Literacy Week, would be organised to sensitise farmers in the district from June 3 to 7 said district collector A. Md. Imtiaz on Friday.

Mr Imtiaz released a wall poster of the Financial Literacy Week celebrations and addressed bankers at a conference on agriculture credit policy. Bankers and agriculture officials attended the meeting held at the collector’s camp office.

Addressing the bankers, Mr Imtiaz asked them to be prepared to issue loans to tenant farmers along with the landholding farmers across the district as the new government will concentrate on their welfare.

He said that the bankers should come forward to issue agriculture loans in large numbers.

Mr Imtiaz asked LDM R. Mohan Rao to coordinate with the various government departments to issue more loans to the agriculture sector than the target set for the current financial year.

He said that the Reserve Bank of India has taken the initiative to conduct Financial Literacy Week from June 3 to 7, hence the district administration has planned to conduct awareness programmes across the district.

Mr Imtiaz said that with the coordination of officials of agriculture and its allied departments, bank managers, MPDOs and tahsildars will participate in the awareness programmes and would sensitise the farmers on bank loans.

On the occasion, Mr Mohan Rao said that with timely repayment of the loan would bring additional benefits to farmers.

Horticulture director D. Dayakar Babu, agriculture ADA Anitha Bhanu, NABARD DDM T. Vijay, KDCC Bank AGM G.M. Bhaskar and others were present.
