Chennai: In a novel way a trader in Vellore has lifted his house by four ft from the ground level without causing any disturbance to the building. With the help of Champion Building Lifting Service, the beedi merchant, Gajendramannan of Nethaji Street in Sathuvachery, has lifted his 800-sq ft house at a nominal cost.
Gajendramannan and his family members were residing in the house for nearly two decades. The building was constructed by his father about 25 years ago. In memory of his father, he wanted to retain the building for long. '
As the authorities were relaying road close to the house repeatedly over the years, the level of road increased posing trouble to the family members. Gajendramannan said “whenever we receive rain fall, water used to enter the house affecting normal life. Sewage water also used to enter the house. We also faced difficulties in letting out drainage water from the house.”
“I was born and brought up in the house. I don't want to demolish it and construct a new house in the place. Our family members also were opposed to demolition of the building”, he said. “I came to know about Champion Building Lifting Service, Chennai. The company was specialized in building lifting service and shifting. The company has agreed to lift the building by four feet from the ground level, he added.
The workers have completed the task in 21 days using nearly 200 heavy duty jacks to lift it from the ground level. The workers neither disturbed the normal work of the residents and neighbours”. Now the workers are giving finishing touch to the work.
