Major parties shift focus to win Zilla Parishad posts in Telangana
Adilabad: Major political parties are now focusing on winning the Zilla Parishad posts after the Lok Sabha results and are predicting the possible results in the local body elections.
The counting of votes of ZPTC elections are scheduled for June 4. Major political parties may shift their winning candidates to camps to keep the flock together.
TRS is eying opposition party candidates to grab the opportunity to raise the TRS flag on the Adilabad Zilla Parishad, created after the division of the united Adilabad district.
News is making the rounds in political circles that former MLA Kova Laxmi who contested as ZPTC from Jainoor was unanimously elected despite facing allegations of kidnapping and forcing the other ZPTC candidates to withdraw their nominations.
There are 15 ZPTCs in the Kumarambheem Asifabad district and among them, TRS is likely to win a majority of the seats and may win the Zilla Parishad chairman post going by the political situation there.
There is a tough fight between the BJP and TRS as far winning more ZPTC seats and the Adilabad Zilla Parishad chairman post.
Atram Sakku is also extending support to Kova Laxmi whose name was declared for the ZP chairman post by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. There is news too that TRS might induct Atram Sakku as a minister in the next Cabinet expansion to compensate him while elevating Kova Laxmi to the ZP chairman level.
Atram Sakku was the lone Congress MLA who was elected from the Asifabad seat from Adilabad district and later joined the TRS.
Adivasi ZPTC candidates want to get the ZP chairman posts in Adilabad and Asifabad which are reserved for ST (General) and ST women respectively. Adivasi candidates who win as ZPTC and aspiring ZP chairman post are likely to face a stiff fight for the ZP chairman post of Adilabad from Lambada candidates.
However, the BJP is likely to win a considerable number of ZPTC seats for the first time in Kumaram-bheem Asifabad district.
