Karur: A kind gesture from District Collector T. Anbazhagan has made sure that a young girl's dreams of higher education would come true.
A girl student, who was unable to pay her first-year undergraduate course fee even after she got admission at the Government Arts and Science College, Karur, was given financial assistance by the collector. Reportedly, he met P. Anusiya on Friday, and handed her a cheque to cover the first year's fee. As reply to her folded hands and many thanks, Anbazhagan only had words of encouragement and wishes for her academic success.
Hearing about the collector's magnanimity, professor Thangadurai, vice-principal and HoD, Computer Science Department, Government Arts and Science College, Karur, reportedly pledged to provide the student, her second and third year fees.
T. Anbazhagan had also recently visited a village in the district and bought a differently-abled man a tri-cycle, on seeing him struggle to move in his immovable seat.
