Hyderabad: A missing software engineer from the city was found dead in Himayathsagar Lake on Friday.

According to Rajendranagar police, Venkateshwarlu (40), a techie working in an MNC, was living with his wife Sailaja and son (10) in Bandlaguda Jagir. When he left his home on Thursday morning, he told his wife he was going out for a walk. However, he never returned. Worried, she tried looking for him but to no avail, so she lodged a complaint with the police, who then registered the case.

Meanwhile, the police heard from some locals that a man was seen jumping into Himayathsagar Lake.

Subsequently, a search operation was launched, and the body of the missing man was fished out of the lake on Friday afternoon, the police said. "Venkateshwarlu was reportedly depressed about some health issues, which is likely why he committed suicide. However, we cannot be too sure about that. A case of suspicious death has been registered, and his body was handed over to his family after its autopsy at the Osmania General Hospital mortuary," said Rajendranagar sub-inspector N. Ramulu.
